The Rubicon 3 skippers and mates
When people ask us what's the hardest part of running Rubicon 3, the answer is not maintaining the boats, planning the routes or managing the logistics. It's finding the right skippers and mates. They have to be hugely experienced, independent, knowledgeable and genuinely kind and patient. That is a very rare combination indeed.

Stuart brings a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from adventures all over the world. Learning to sail in dinghies he then transferred to yachts and worked on a local 78’ sloop. After a spell in the Caribbean and some other delivery trips he returned to Scotland to skipper the 78’er for 4 years. Some worldwide travelling then saw Stuart spend time teaching sailing in New Zealand and Greece with other spells skippering a cetacean research vessel, co-skippering an exploration voyage to Greenland and running a catered chalet in the alps. Being from Scotland it is well known that Stuart is fond of haggis and Irn Bru but lesser known is he also makes a mean cake on-board too.

After a period living abroad he decided to fulfil his dream and sailed around the world.
