Hummingbird settles in Scotland
There was a somber feeling this morning as the crew departed Hummingbird in Oban. The final section of our journey took us to the majestic Scottish mainland port of Ardfern and the light of the summer evening delighted the crew as we enjoyed a beef casserole dinner that had been slowly cooking through the afternoon.
Our early morning departure the following day had Stephen and Nicky complete some very tricky pilotage through the Sound of Luing and on to Tobermory.
The stunning colours of Tobermory did not disappoint in the glorious sunshine and it took little persuasion for the crew to agree on a penultimate crew dinner ashore at the famous Mishnish pub.
The weather continues to be kind for our final passage and navigational exercise which had Rich navigate us to our destination port of Oban or more specifically the marina on the small island of Kerrera opposite.
It has been a journey of over 700nm with countless lessons learned and intense theory brought to life. Naturally we celebrated last night with a final dinner at the Waypoint Restaurant on Kerrera and there may have been some singing along to the power ballads that accompanied some great Scottish food.
Now Hummingbird sits proud on her berth nice and clean and refreshed and ready for the next crew to arrive on Sunday.
