Fine food and sailing on oriole

We awoke to a spectacular sunrise this morning as we raised anchor for another sharp departure south to catch the tide. We finished breakfast on the way and with little wind settled into a motor sail towards the north channel. We chatted about charts, passage planning, variation and tides which should have us ready to plan the following days’ passages. A fine selection of Scottish cuisine of black pudding, square sausage and haggis for elevenses kept us warm in the cold morning air. Some reefing drills were completed just in time for the wind filling in and we managed to sail through lunch as Stephen served up some awesome quesadillas. With the tide we made good progress and a MOB drill later and just a few miles to go we dropped sails and made Oriole ready to go alongside. Trevor drove us on to the berth where she was met by Rubicon3 alumni Terry and Clare who caught out lines and greeted us with beer showing the true spirit of the Rubicon3 family. Another 55nm where ticked off for this fine Oriole crew! Enough time to explore ashore before a fine beef stroganoff from Gary and a trip to the pub.
