Day 2 started early for the crew of Hummingbird amid a windy forecast. Graeme expertly reversed Hummingbird off a windy leeward jetty and through a gap into the sea. Heading into the open sea we were surrounded by the amazing Norwegian mountains . Sailing under a fully reefed mainsail, yankee3 and the storm jib, the mountains provided a beautiful back drop for the Man Overboard drill, ably executed under the watchful eyes of skipper Harry and mate Jonas with my self on the Helm!
The weather threw everything at us, lots of wind, sun, rain and rainbows. Then on to our day’s destination, Bolga, a small island of only 90 inhabitants but with so much to see as well as a restaurant and bar, and eagerly anticipated hot showers. Harry, Jasmine, Jane and Phil hiked part way up Bolgtinden mountain to Bolgborra, a fascinating hole through the side of the mountain through which you can see some more islands to the north.
Lynn, Phil and Jonas rustled up a gourmet chicken meal then it was off to the bar to hear Helen tell us some of the history and highlights of the island.
