A magical day exploring Dominica

Octavios and his crew at Sea Cat Services found us a mooring in Roseau and helped us to clear customs. We then organised a full day ashore in which all of the crew participated yesterday.
An adventurous hike to the first waterfall took a good few hours in total and we ventured through stunning rainforest along the way. Some of the braver took a dip in the icy spring waters and we rested ahead of the hike back.
The Titou gorge was the next stop as we rented life jackets and swam amongst the spectacular caves where parts of pirates of the Caribbean 2 were filmed. Shrieks of delight echoed amidst the walls and lots of photographs were taken in the unique surroundings.
Next we were taken to a small restaurant next to the Trafalgar Waterfalls where we enjoyed traditional homemade Caribbean cuisine of chicken, shrimp and plantain amongst other Caribbean specialties before finally visiting the falls themselves.
The brave amongst the crew clambered across the boulders to bathe in the pools; Including one geothermal pool near to the top of this geological wonder. Ken Pritchard commented after that it was one of the best experiences he had ever had.
After a very full day we all returned to the boats at dusk where the crews toasted a truly memorable experience with beers and rum before retiring to their bunks ahead of an early morning to follow.
Dominica is a very very special place on earth and will be hard to follow. Next stop, Les Saints (Guadeloupe).
